Every weekend in New Buffalo holds the opportunity for something new. We host a variety of special events throughout the year from street festivals and blockbuster art shows to fireworks on the water and exciting sports like Great Lakes surfing. Check out our calendar of events for something happening of interest to you:
- May - September 2010: Friday & Saturday Night Live - FREE Live entertainment for the whole family at the Corner of Whittaker and Merchant Street in downtown New Buffalo from 7pm-9pm each Friday & Saturday night during the summer (except when major events are scheduled downtown like 4th of July, Ship & Shore Fest, Harvest Fest).

You can browse artwork from dozens of local artisans and crafters, or sample locally produced micro-brews at the beer tents. Wines from nearby Round Barn Winery and Free Run Cellars are perfect complements to the mouthwatering dishes prepared by our own local restaurants offering a wide range of cuisines from Mexican to Italian to Asian!
Kid-friendly events on Saturday and Sunday (August 13-15, 2010) include watermelon eating contests, ice-cream eating contests, and games. Adults are encouraged to "play" too! A volleyball tournament, skim-boarding contest, and 5K run are also planned for Saturday, August 14, 2010. Start either day with a visit to the New Buffalo Fire Department for their pancake and sausage breakfast.
Despite all the great day-time activities, the real highlights of the New Buffalo Ship & Shore Festival occur after dusk. Each year we hold a Lighted Boat Parade where participants transform their pleasure boats, cruisers, and yachts into floating creations that you have to see to believe. Our 2008 parade winner turned his 36-foot fishing boat into a floating Las Vegas - even Elvis made an appearance! Fireworks immediately follow the parade - lighting up the night sky and capping off a great summer weekend.
A donation of $5 is suggested for admission.
