SUMMARY:One Vision of Queen featuring Marc Martel
DESCRIPTION:One Vision of Queen featuring Marc Martel will perform at Four Winds New Buffalo’s Silver Creek® Event Center on Friday\, July 10 at 9 p.m. Eastern. Ticket prices for the show start at $49 plus applicable fees and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster. Hotel rooms are available on the night of the show and can be purchased with event tickets. \n“In the history of music\, few voices have been as great as that of Freddie Mercury. However\, the Canadian singer Marc Martel seems to be his very reincarnation\,” said Alejandra Orozco\, Quarter Rock Press. \n\n Make it a getaway! Stay at the Four Winds Casino Resort Hotel and enjoy a night of gaming\, dining\, and entertainment. [ Book Now! ]\n\nLong before his YouTube videos went viral\, spawning an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a performance with the surviving members of Queen on “American Idol\,” Marc Martel spent 13 years recording and touring the globe with Canadian rockers Downhere. Not only did the rock band visit 49 American States\, but also toured throughout Europe and even Northern Africa\, collecting worldwide acclaim and four Juno Awards in their native land. \nAll the while\, the group was extoled for its sonic diversity while the Nashville transplant was regularly heralded as a world-class vocalist\, often earning comparisons to late great Freddie Mercury in tandem with building his own fervent fan base. While the idea of paying tribute to one of the world’s most renowned and influential rock institutions never actually occurred to him when pounding the pavement with his own internationally signed act\, in hindsight\, it only made sense that Martel would someday be the perfect vehicle to propel One Vision of Queen onto the road. \n“When I was in my former band Downhere\, I did everything I could not to remind people of Freddie Mercury\, but it became almost hilarious how many people compared me to him to the point where it felt like it was working against the band when we tested singles at radio.” \nAfter paying their dues for more than a decade in a fifteen-passenger van and finally graduating to a full-fledged bus\, the group wrote what they believed was the very peak of its artistry and expression\, but despite the private support of radio programmers\, the public never latched onto to what turned out to be Downhere’s swansong effort. Yet right around the time when that writing popped up on the wall\, Martel received an email from an industry pal with a link to a contest spearheaded by the actual members of Queen. \nAt first\, the front man almost passed on the opportunity\, but with some prodding from his wife and additional friends\, he casually cut a version of “Somebody To Love” in 2011\, and now 30 million cumulative YouTube and Facebook views later\, bolstered by the aforementioned “Ellen” appearance\, Martel was declared the victor. Even legendary Queen drummer Roger Taylor remarked to the Daily Record: “That voice. You listen\, close your eyes and you think it’s Freddie. It’s really uncanny.” \nMartel is the ideal match for One Vision of Queen\, an explosive\, attention-commanding tribute where some of the most iconic rock anthems of all time collide with a theatrical performance style and eye-popping production. At its core\, the riveting show focuses on the extremely diverse body of the band’s greatest hits\, from the grandiose “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the adrenaline-pumping “We Will Rock You\,” the euphoric “We Are The Champions\,” the funky “Another One Bites The Dust\,” the stadium-shaking David Bowie collaboration “Under Pressure\,” the soulful “Somebody To Love\,” and the swinging “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (to name but a few from the steroid-stacked set list). \nIn addition to the obligatory but nonetheless consistently astounding selections\, One Vision of Queen also incorporates an entirely unique angle that will have die-hards and casual appreciators alike clamoring to hear several other sides of Martel. “Near the end of Freddie’s life\, he explored other styles of music beyond rock\, including opera\, so with that in mind\, the show also includes a segment of familiar songs in the flavor of what they might have sounded like had Freddie ever gotten the chance to sing them\,” he explains. “For instance\, I perform ‘Ave Maria’ by myself on piano and also the great opera aria ‘Nessun Dorma’ in the style of Freddie\, so it gives the night some imaginative elements in the spirit of Queen\, rather than strictly the letter of Queen. You could call it a greatest hits show with a twist where I get to explore other things that I wish Freddie could have recorded himself and wonder what could have been.” \nMelodic rock solo artist Jeff Scott Soto\, who’s also logged time in Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Journey (the latter of which taught him a thing or two about channeling a superstar vocalist) even admitted “I wouldn’t want to have to try to sing these more obscure songs or one of these novelty songs after somebody like Marc Martel\, who does them so well and does them like Freddie.” Rolling Stone went on to call the vocal resemblance “striking\,” while Brian Koerber of Mashable proclaimed\, “regardless of Martel’s obvious comparisons to Mercury\, he’s a talented musician and performer\, not a gimmick.” \n“Living in the States\, I’m finding that Americans in particular are kind of discovering Queen still\, even though they’re the second biggest thing to The Beatles in the rest of the world\,” notices Martel. “As a result\, America isn’t satiated with Queen cover bands like they are in the UK and Europe\, so gigs keep falling into my lap. I try to walk a line between being my own artist and indulging in this Queen thing\, but it’s so much fun and people have been knocking down my door that it’s hard to say ‘no’ and it’s a standing ovation every night. It’s really just me answering the call of a huge desire for Queen’s music to be performed with Freddie’s sound.” \nBut even with the overwhelming demand behind Martel’s Queen-themed projects\, he’s cultivated an increasingly visible solo career defined by a relentless creativity\, unpredictably and practically super-human abilities to simultaneously craft his own identity while flawlessly stepping into the shoes of others. He’s made additional waves performing at the direct request of Céline Dion (who avidly follows his videos) on Radio-Canada TV’s “En direct de l’univers” in 2016\, plus a jaw-dropping cover of George Michael and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” for the video game “Just Dance 2017” (with Kenny Loggins’ “Footloose” coming next). Add in performances on People.com\, ten nights at the Calgary Stampede\, plus various San Francisco Giants\, Phoenix Suns\, Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets games\, and there’s truly no limit to Martel’s unreal reach. \n“I grew up believing a lie that I had to have one sound as a singer\, but after I put that false belief aside\, I realized I can have as many sides as I want\,” sums up Martel. “I’m having the best time of my life as a professional musician right now where I’m involved with so many different things it’s impossible to get bored. Between anything Queen-related\, my own recordings and these fun little side projects\, I’m more diverse and happier as an artist than I’ve ever been!”

He’s collaborated with some of the biggest superstars on the planet\, including Sting\, Paul Simon\, Barbra Streisand\, Lady Gaga\, Tony Bennett\, Frank Sinatra\, Aretha Franklin\, Bette Midler\, Joni Mitchell\, Steven Tyler\, Andrea Bocelli\, Herbie Hancock\, Yo-Yo Ma\, and others. He’s also topped the jazz charts with numerous albums\, earned multiple Gold and Platinum records\, performed with symphony orchestras and on prestigious stages from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl to the Sydney Opera House. \n\n Make it a getaway! Stay at the Four Winds Casino Resort Hotel and enjoy a night of gaming\, dining\, and entertainment. [ Book Now! ]\n\nIn short\, Chris Botti really needs no introduction. Yet with his Blue Note Records debut\, he’s offering one anyway. Vol.1 is in many ways a fresh start for the trumpeter. Having successfully crossed over from jazz renown to pop stardom\, Botti’s first album in more than a decade finds him crossing back\, with a small group project focused on acoustic jazz and classic standards. \n“I turned 60 in 2022\, at a time that seemed like a restart for so many things in the world\,” Botti says. “I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing\, the playing of my band\, and these jazz classics that we always love playing on stage.” \nWhile Botti could boast of the major names with whom he’s shared stages\, this project allows him to share his enthusiasm for the jazz greats past and present that excite him – his conversation is peppered with references to everyone from Miles Davis to Keith Jarrett to Pat Metheny to Brad Mehldau. He points to landmark albums like Davis’ Kind of Blue\, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman\, or Metheny’s duo outing with Charlie Haden\, Beyond the Missouri Sky as models for the kind of “lifestyle” music he set out to make – music that is exquisite on its own but can also set the scene for a coffee shop or hotel lounge\, instantly generating a sophisticated mood. \nOf course\, Botti couldn’t have found a more ideal home for this artistic rebirth. Blue Note has been a standard-bearer of jazz throughout its storied history\, and the trumpeter found a receptive partner in label president Don Was. “Anyone that’s lucky enough to say they’re on Blue Note Records should be pinching themselves\,” Botti says. “It’s a fantastic honor. I had great runs on Verve and Columbia\, so it’s amazing to now arrive on the most famous traditional jazz record label.” \nNot that Vol. 1 is a complete about-face – longtime fans will immediately recognize Botti’s glowing tone and regal melodicism\, as well as his flair for investing the narrative of a song with high drama and vibrant emotion. “There’s a cinematic quality that I like to hear in music\, and that I’ve found that audiences really love\,” he says. “The essence of that remains on this album. It’s paramount to me that there is incredible beauty and elegance to all of the performances and the way they’re recorded.” \nBotti has assembled a stellar group of collaborators to achieve that blend of beauty and elegance for the album. The album was produced by the legendary David Foster\, whose staggering list of credits includes three Beatles\, Michael Jackson\, Barbra Streisand\, Michael Bublé\, Diana Krall\, Mariah Carey\, Madonna\, Herbie Hancock\, Aretha Franklin\, Dolly Parton and countless others. \n“David commands so much respect from the musicians that he didn’t have to say much\, but he would navigate the session in a very subtle way\,” says Botti of the producer\, who also contributed the lush\, moving piano intro to “Danny Boy” that sets the tone for the album. \nBotti has enjoyed a long collaboration with pianist Taylor Eigsti\, while bassist Zach Moses\, keyboardist Julian Pollack\, and saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz-Brown are all members of his regular touring band. Veteran drummer Vinnie Colaiuta rounds out the core band. \nThey’re joined by a number of excellent musicians\, including Israeli guitarist Gilad Hekselman\, whose atmospheric\, cascading lines grace the Rodgers & Hart classic “Bewitched\, Bothered and Bewildered”; classical violinist Joshua Bell\, who brings a striking passion to Botti’s stark rendition of “My Funny Valentine”; Uruguayan-born guitarist Leonardo Amuedo\, whose years in Brazil are reflected in his graceful soloing on Henry Mancini’s “Two for the Road” and the bossa nova feel he brings to “Time On My Hands”; pianist Esteban Castro\, whose delicate restraint belies his youth on “Old Folks”; and singer-songwriter John Splithoff\, who contributes and performs his romantic song “Paris.” \nAbove all\, it’s Botti’s clarion\, heart wrenching trumpet that seizes the spotlight throughout Vol. 1. From the way he sings the yearning melody of “Danny Boy” to the keening\, airy melancholy of his Harmon mute playing on Miles Davis’ “Blue In Green”; the hushed tenderness he brings to Coldplay’s “Fix You” or his shimmering flurries on “Someday My Prince Will Come;” Botti leaves no doubt of his mastery or his ability to speak directly from the soul of the instrument. \nThe title of Vol. 1 implies a new beginning\, but perhaps even more promising is the fact that it also hints at a Vol. 2 – and beyond. “I’m so looking forward to that possibility\,” Botti concludes.

SUMMARY:Keanu Reeves' Dogstar Live in New Buffalo
DESCRIPTION:LA-based band Dogstar (guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose\, drummer Robert Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves) have announced their return with their 4th studio album All In Now\, produced by Nick Launay (IDLES\, Amyl and the Sniffers\, Yeah Yeah Yeahs\, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds)\, via their own label Dillon Street Records. The band will perform at New Buffalo’s Silver Creek Event Center on August 28\, 2026. Hotel rooms are available the night of the performance. (Tickets are available through Ticketmaster) \n“The album really sets up the energy at the heart of this album and the fun that we’ve always had playing together\,” Robert Mailhouse shares. “We couldn’t fucking wait\,” Keanu Reeves says about Dogstar’s collective desire to get right back to the studio. “Personally\, I loved it all. For me\, the attitude was like\, ‘let’s work hard and let’s GO.’” “It felt like our last album was our ticket into a party\,” says Bret Domrose. “And now we’ve shown up to the party – the three of us.” All In Now is available to pre-order and pre-save on all formats here. \n\n Make it a getaway! Stay at the Four Winds Casino Resort Hotel and enjoy a night of gaming\, dining\, and entertainment. [ Book Now! ]\n\n The band\, who Rolling Stone hailed for their “sleek\, post-grunge alt-rock” share the first cut off the album\, the eponymous “All In Now.” “‘All In Now’ just whacks you in the head\,” Mailhouse shares\, “talk about a live song. Keanu came up with the title for that song too\, and it sort of summed up where and who we are as a band today. It just feels true to us. We’re leaning in\, and we are going to keep going.” “And this is a good song to lean into” Reeves adds\, “so\, we really are all in now.” Listen to “All In Now” here and watch the music video\, directed by Carlos Garcia Medina\, here. \nTheir 25-Date “All In Now” North American tour is set to kick off on May 28th in cities including Austin\, Nashville\, Washington DC\, Philadelphia\, New York City and more (full dates below). Tickets and VIP for these dates will go on sale here Friday\, Mar 13 at 10am local time (with the exception of the 8/15 Mashantucket date which will go on-sale Friday\, March 20 at 10am ET). Previously announced European tour and festival dates are on sale now. \nDogstar is a brotherhood – a group of three men with multiple talents who combined\, have created a sound and energy that is greater than the sum of its parts. After being dormant for 20 years\, the California-based trio reunited in 2023 to release their celebrated album\, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees\, which SPIN called “honest and inspired\,” and “fully reflects these three guys\, the stories of their lives over the last three decades\, and exactly who they are.” Their new album pushes them further\, with a unified and self-assured album forged by their time on the road\, touring both in America and around the world\, playing everywhere from sweaty rock clubs to giant festivals. Mailhouse remembers\, “Just seeing the smiles on people’s faces and feeling their joy on a musical level. Playing some outdoor festivals\, and when it starts to rain\, seeing nobody leaving.” “Those festivals in Europe really made a big\, positive impact on us\,” adds Reeves. “We loved playing to people in the afternoon who didn’t come to see Dogstar but connected with what we were doing. And that connected with us.” Bret continued\, “You never know if people are going to show up\, are they going to stay\, are they going to listen? It meant a lot that people not only stayed but got into songs that they mostly had never heard before.” \nDogstar credits legendary producer Nick Launay — whose has worked with artists from Midnight Oil to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Amyl and the Sniffers — with the fully realized sound and the energy of All In Now. As Domrose recalls\, “Our management put Nick’s name on a list of possible producers.” “And we all thought it was a typo. Like this guy will never work with us\,” Mailhouse adds with a laugh. For Nick Launay\, “Working with Bret\, Robert\, and Keanu was extremely fun because it brought things back to why people form bands and make music. These three friends wrote some killer songs and wanted to push some boundaries in the studio. It’s all passion and no BS. For me\, it’s always a treat working with such capable musicians because the sky’s the limit when experimenting\, and that’s exactly what we did\, while smiling all the way.”

Growing up\, he also learned to play the guitar and piano while developing his vocal skills in church. Joe’s dream of attending Dillard University in New Orleans to study business and law took a backseat when he opted to relocate to New Jersey in pursuit of a musical career. After notching his first R&B top 10 for Mercury Records in 1993 with “I’m in Luv\,” Joe began hitting his stride in the mid-‘90s with the R&B and pop crossover smash “All the Things (Your Man Won’t Do).” \nAn ensuing string of hits—“All That I Am\,” “I Wanna Know\,” “No One Comes Close”—sealed Joe’s reputation in the 2000s as an R&B superstar. And the seven-time Grammy nominee’s memorable collaborations with Mariah Carey (“Thank God I Found You”)\, Big Pun (“Still Not a Player”) and G-Unit (“Wanna Get to Know You”) further underscored his musical versatility. \n“I’d love to be remembered in the same league as a Marvin Gaye\,” says Joe. “And I’ve got time. That’s the beauty of R&B. It’s a classy genre — and class always lasts.”
