Seasonal sand accumulation has obstructed the New Buffalo Harbor federal channel, especially the outer harbor. Unfortunately, dredging cannot occur between May 15th and July 1st because of the salmon spawn. Getting it done prior to that proved difficult as all dredging contractors were booked. So, boaters can expect to see a narrow channel for the first six weeks of the summer season. Dredging will be done in July.
